Originally staged at the Royal Shakespeare
Company, THE BODY is a biting political
comedy in the tradition of Dr. Strangelove. Set
in a tiny seaside village, a muddy dead body
sets off a dark and hilarious tug-of-war between
the local villagers and the US Marines stationed
in a nearby camp as politics and
cultures explode. You'll meet a Rector dressed
as a Chinaman who gets arrested as a Communist
spy, a village policeman who can't keep his trousers
up, a Marine lieutenant obsessed with tweed jackets
and terrorism, a bucket of cockles... and, well,
you get the idea...
